Woods TV offers subtitling for all types of programming. Our team is highly trained in adapting texts for subtitles and all of our translators work with specialized software that allows them to process video and text files via our central server for subtitle creation, management and insertion. This allows us to save valuable time for quick turnaround projects.
Captioning
Woods TV's captioning department has been created to meet the rising demand of our clients for captioning services for the deaf and hard of hearing. We offer traditional "pop up" captions, as well as "roll-up" captions for either live broadcasts or pre-recorded programming.
For closed captions, we use Ayato software. Although the approach is similar to subtitling, specific technical guidelines must be respected. These include how and where the text appears on-screen, as well as color-coding (where applicable) for on and off-screen voices and ambient sound.
For "roll-up" captions on live broadcasts we work with Protitle Live voice recognition software. An adaptor/interpreter first listens to the live broadcast and simultaneously creates a condensed transcript. A second person working on a separate terminal corrects the transcript before putting it on-line. A two-person team can produce 40 minutes of live closed captioning per session. We can use the same system for quick-turnarounds on tape.
